With this nasty toxic brew doin’ the rounds its time to sit and reflect on tried and tested ways to help us forget our worries. C’mon, cheers up!

Always A Good Year.

In winters chill
I tend the still.

Come spring time
Dandelion wine’s truly sublime.

In summers heat
Aaaaaaaah, my home-brewed treat.

First autumnal gale?
Scrumpy, by the pail.

(For the uninitiated/uninebriated Scrumpy is a kind of a cider. With a kick.)

According to Wonkipedia, “Rough” (scrumpy cider) was known as the customary drink of farm labourers in the west of England, who would generally receive up to a quart daily as an incentive on top of their wages.” Hope it was the end of the day 😉

I had planned to make an incisive, thoughtful comment (it’s always my plan), but your mention of “dandelion wine” diverted me to Ray Bradbury, whose book with the same name is one of my touchstones for everything that I write. I need a moment to compose myself…

Can I offer a bracing beverage? Two? A double? Never delved too deep into Bradbury, but in reference to your book posts, I recall unexpectedly enjoying the old filmed version of ‘Something Wicked’ with Jason Robards.
